The 2023 City SC Coach Education Day took place on Saturday, April 29, with an early morning classroom session at the Station Church in Carlsbad that included presentations from (Paul Bright, Technical Director – The Coaching Manual; Jim Madrid, CEO – Advance Sports Technology; Joe Smith, Technical Director – City SC Temecula). The event then moved over to Aviara Community Park for lunch and then field demonstrations from various City SC guest coaches.
With the largest attendance to date, over 100 coaches from the various City SC clubs, this yearly coach education symposium is paramount to the City SC competitive program and is the official start of the yearly periodization plan and age specific coaching curriculum. The classroom and field sessions aim to unite and develop our coaching staff around the club culture, coaching methodology and style of play.
“We expect nothing less than 100% from our players, so as a coaching staff it is important that we take time to invest in ourselves and our professional development, so that in turn we can give 100% to our players”, said City SC Technical Director, Steve Cowell. “The weekend affirmed just what a talented and enthusiastic group of coaches we have here at City SC and I am excited to see them achieve our vision of igniting a lifelong passion for soccer in every City SC player!”
Although an event for our coaches, the ultimate beneficiaries from Coach Education Day are the City SC players.
